Why are there different graduation requirements for the different graduating classes?
LAUSD has been gradually changing the graduation requirements for the classes of 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. The LAUSD Board of Education voted to "raise the bar" of LAUSD's standards for graduation requirements to align with the requirements to apply to the University of California (UC) and the California State Universities (CSU). Now, students are required to take A-G classes
(college preparatory classes) in order to graduate.
Our newest class of students, the Class of 2017 must pass their A-G classes with a grade of "C" or higher in order to receive credit. These students will graduate already eligible to apply to the
UC and Cal State Universities.
